Hi there! I'm Isabelle de Burgh. I'm a plant food connoisseur, animal lover, functional nutrition coach and digital media strategist at IsaTales. I specialize in creating plant-based alternatives to your favorite recipes, teaching young teens the significance of nutrition for mental health, helping eco-friendly & non-toxic brands gain awareness through social media strategy and promotion.
My health journey began in 2011, when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 15 years old. In a way, the diagnosis brought a wave of relief: no more questions on why I was constantly tired, bloated, losing hair and frequently forgetful. But unfortunately the remedy became a curse, and the synthetic thyroid medicine I was prescribed only made me more sick. It wasn't long until I realized I could heal myself through holistic nutrition and a focus on primary food.

I switched cream cheese for hummus, fries for sweet potato wedges, milkshakes for smoothies, lamb chops for jackfruit— and never looked back. My energy shot through the roof and my metabolism stabilized.
Though my journey appears black and white, in reality the road to health came with a lot of strife. I sacrificed my well-being to be the very own guinea pig for realizations that are only being published in scientific journals six years later. Preservatives and processed food disrupt your hormones? Crowding your plate with more colorful plants gives you extended energy? Eat meat that was raised freely and humane? If only these were the articles published on the front page of the New York Times.
